Beyoncé Is Back with “BREAK MY SOUL”

Another Beyoncé era is upon us, ladies and gentlemen. And it’s beginning with what Beyoncé does best: self-empowerment.

On June 21, Queen Bey dropped the inspiring lead single “BREAK MY SOUL” from her upcoming seventh studio album, Renaissance. Written by Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z, the song is a club banger that is heavily influenced by 1990s house music.

Due to its empowering themes and June release correlating with Pride Month, Black Music Month, and Juneteenth, “BREAK MY SOUL” is already becoming an anthem for the Black LGBTQ+ community.

“I’m lookin’ for motivation / I’m lookin’ for a new foundation / And I’m on that new vibration / I’m buildin’ my own foundation,” she asserts.

The first verse, in which she sings, “Now, I just fell in love / And I just quit my job / I’m gonna find new drive / Damn, they work me so damn hard / Work by nine, then off past five,” has inspired job walkouts in listeners who relate to work burnout and exhaustion with their daily grinds.

Renaissance is set to be released on July 29, and the 40-year-old pop icon has teased the album artwork on Instagram.

“Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving,” Beyoncé captioned the photo. “My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”
