Lys Scott Deluxe: Live from Black Forge

Lys Scott Deluxe just proved they’re the hottest new band in Pittsburgh.

On June 18, rapper Lys Scott and her band rocked Black Forge Coffee in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. The group delivered an electric, festival-worthy show that felt both exhilarating and intimate all at once.

The ten-song setlist featured bangers from both of Lys’ albums, squashed dreams & broken wings (2021) and punk kidwell (2022). Newer tracks like “city” and “cyber d82021” mixed well with older favorites such as “flowerchild” and “gods call.” Confident yet personable, Lys hyped up the crowd in between songs.

“This one’s for my loners – who’s a loner here? Okay, we raised our hands, that’s how much of a loner you are; we don’t even use our words,” she joked before performing one of her first singles, “loners only.” Her realness and relatability makes it easy for any audience to be drawn to her music and energy.

Audience members were especially fired up during the performance of “pu$$y (highest form of power),” when they started moshing in front of the stage. “This was the first time people moshed to one of my songs, and it won’t be the last,” Lys promised.

The set closed with the triumphant “head to the sky” and shoutouts to the talented band members that make up Lys Scott Deluxe: Skyler Brimmeier on guitar, Tyler Marchilena on bass, and Aaron Gillie on drums.

If you’re in the Pittsburgh area, catch Lys Scott Deluxe performing at the Deutschtown Music Festival on July 23!
