Please individually introduce yourself, who are you and what is your role in Pretty?

Pretty is;
Torin Craig – guitar and lead vocals
Eliot Rossi – guitar
Will Macquarrie – bass
Brian Heyes – keys
Morgan Zych – drums

Who are three of your greatest influences as a group?

Torin: I would say early Pink Floyd, Ty Segall and Kikagaku Moyo.

It has been a year and a half since your debut album, Sertraline Dream, was released. How has the band changed since then?

Eliot: The most obvious thing for sure is that we have a new drummer, so the band overall sounds quite a bit more aggressive than we do on Sertraline Dream.

If you each had to choose one word to describe the sound of Pretty, what word would you use?

Morgan: Chaos!
Will: Unhinged.
Brian: Family-friendly.
Torin: Genuine.
Eliot: Genuine for sure.

How has the Toronto music scene influences you as artists?

Eliot: Overall I think the scene encourages us to be as honest as possible, just be ourselves and do our own thing as much as possible.

Describe how it feels to be playing live shows again after the pandemic shut down stages for almost two years?

Torin: So damn good!
Will: The weight of pandemic depression has lifted from my shoulders.
Morgan: The best. It gave me the will to live again.
Eliot: I feel like a person again. Not being able to play was really weird. Very, very strange feeling.
Brian: It’s also interesting being able to hear music louder than your computer speakers after so long.

When people listen to your music, what is the number one takeaway you hope for them to have?

Morgan: Have a visceral experience, maybe feel stuff instead of burying it.
Eliot: Feeling stuff is good, and cool. I hope we inspire people to do that.

What do you have planned for the rest of 2022?

Torin: Recording new material and playing as many shows as possible.
Will: Also trying to branch out of Toronto and play shows elsewhere.
Eliot: And we’ll be releasing at least one new music video!
