Ajna – Just A Man

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Ajna’s “I’m Just A Man,” the soulful lead single off his upcoming debut album Lifelines, is a confessional wrought with trauma and doubt. Over balmy keys and crisp, rigid drums, Ajna expresses the pain of losing a loved one and the uncertainty of being a musician. “Yeah, I might have lost my girl/but I got my bros.” Stoic in delivery, but his shield has reached its limits as the song continues. Choosing to embrace those who lift him up is a tall task when life tries its best to humble you. With every utterance of “I’m just a man,” you feel a man searching for an outlet to safely unload his pain, where pleading for consideration isn’t confused with seeking pity. But it’s impossible when individuals assume that you played a part in fostering that turmoil: “Someone said I killed her/That right there left a dent.”[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The beat change is a cue to be aware of his surroundings. No one will ever understand what he truly feels; all he has to defend himself is his ego. The drums lose their discipline, stuttering more than they did in the first half as Ajna’s bravado takes the place of his composure. His voice is raw, “always on go,” as he no longer pauses to assemble carefully worded phrases. In the midst of sheltering his feelings, they appear brighter than ever before; his life is beginning to change for the better.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/DthOjaSGQBU” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
