With this ongoing trend, many artists have been sampling and covering old tracks, bringing back cherished memories and times we hold dear. There is something about hearing Miley Cyrus nail an 80s anthem and Frank Ocean giving Audrey Hepburn a run for her money. Here are my favorite song covers and samples that give me that hit of nostalgia. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]“Doin’ Time” – Lana Del Rey

A timeless summer anthem, “Doin’ Time” covers Sublime’s original rock anthem. Adding a melodic and dreamy twist to the music and vocals, Lana uses her talent to her advantage and takes this once-forgotten song and makes it her own.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]https://open.spotify.com/track/0Oqc0kKFsQ6MhFOLBNZIGX?si=EDID91ieSpGH676l0YL1WQ[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]“Heart of Glass” – Miley Cyrus

One of the most show-stopping covers of 2020, Cyrus’ cover of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” took Tik Tok and social media by storm. It was the start of her new era and her way of ushering in her new album filled with rock ballads and powerful vocals. The best part of the cover is that it’s sung live, and you can hear the passion in her voice as she nails the high notes at the end.  [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]https://open.spotify.com/track/5i7ThJfYLAzp2DyZuFpF6j?si=FaSXwD_ISvqJn525t_KZsg[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]“Once Upon a Dream” – Lana Del Rey

Once Upon A Dream is already the perfect lullaby, but paired with Lana Del Rey’s vocals and an intense instrumental backing, the song is brought into a new light. I love this song. It reminds me of my childhood watching Sleeping Beauty under the covers at my grandparent’s house. Pair it with Lana Del Rey, and it’s the perfect cover to lull you off to sleep. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]https://open.spotify.com/track/3liiZRlJxa8GeLUgWMoIeu?si=rIhTS3Q8R4i5xdR8pKcP2A[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]“Moon River” – Frank Ocean

It’s hard to top Audrey Hepburn or Andy Williams’ dreamy lullaby-like vocals, but Frank Ocean certainly delivers. His “Moon River” cover reflects his artistry and style while remaining true to the song’s original form. Slowing the music down and including unique vocals, this cover puts a modern and reignited spin on an old classic.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]https://open.spotify.com/track/41cpvQ2GyGb2BRdIRSsTqK?si=VBUkHCEhQd6giRcbTQrcnw[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]“Valerie” – Naya Rivera

A talent who was gone too soon, Naya Rivera’s witty comebacks and sassy dialogue turned Glee into one of the most popular shows of the 2010s. And while Glee may not always nail an already good song, Rivera took Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie,” sped up the rhythm, and made the song her own. The song is one of the most popular Glee covers, and it certainly maintains Rivera’s legacy. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]https://open.spotify.com/track/4hBW3h6FnQNh7NRmyxLLG7?si=Ro8w6Fu8QbqHyPbnhr5bZw[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
