“You Belong To Somebody Else” – Single Review

[vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Noah Cyrus and PJ Harding have teamed up once again with the release of “You Belong To Somebody Else.” The duo released “Dear August” earlier this year. 

The track is an acoustic, country-ish tune, with Cyrus and Harding trading verses about feeling jealous of an ex’s new relationship: “And I didn’t want to but I couldn’t help it // And I know it’s wrong to call this sweet hell upon myself // You belong to somebody else.”

This isn’t the first creative collaboration between the two. Cyrus and Harding first met at a songwriting camp in 2018. Harding actually played guitar on Cyrus’ track “Good Cry.” Flash forward a year later, and Cyrus releases her The End of Everything EP with four tracks co-written with Harding. 

The pair have been collaborating remotely this year and are set to drop an EP, People Don’t Change, on April 23. 

“This wouldn’t have happened without PJ,” said Cyrus. “He put the music together, so I could do this. He’s the most talented dude I’ve ever partnered with. I genuinely admire him as a writer, singer, musician, and artist. Writing songs before, I honestly felt a little lost. It felt special to go back to my roots and make something with guitar and piano-like what my dad made me listen to as a kid. I felt like I was able to put my true self into this. I could be who I am at the core—which is just Noah from Nashville.”

Harding is equally impressed by his musical partner, saying “At heart, this is really a raw, homemade record. There’s a strong folk tradition in Australia, which you can possibly feel. There’s certainly a lot of Nashville in there too. I feel like Noah is really the guiding force here. She’s the soul of this record.”
