Clear 2: Summer Walker’s Soft Era Commences
From beginning to end, I find Summer Walker’s Clear extended play like a soft, warm hug on cold summer nights. With only 9 songs, “Clear 2: Soft Life Ep” tells an evolution of Summer finding peace.
Released on May 19, Reddit marked “Clear 2” to sell at $25K within a month span. And with her “Audio hug” from J. Cole trending, it opened the summer with a peaceful outlook on slowing down and reflecting. I believe positive mental health is critical, and from the original “Clear,” I can see Summer’s mental clinging to a softer approach to life.
As an artist, Summer had debuted, sharing some of her darkest moments. Songs such as “Riot” and “Settled” share views of unrequited love and accepting the hurt of a past lover. I related to this space after my breakup, and it took a long time to find peace with the decision to cut cycles with this person. I learned life has to move on without this person and recognize my own strength during a time I felt so alone. Summer spoke to my heart so much; it was such a tear-jerker when I finally realized the peace was within.
This summer, we are healing and cycle-eliminating. Summer Walker’s mental transformation in front of the world while becoming a mother deserves more flowers than ever. Being vulnerable is not easy, but she got to share her journey.
Thank you for sharin’ your light, your voice, and writin’ them beautiful poems.
