Lana Del Rey Delivers on her Promise of More Music with Three New Singles
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]If we can count on any artist to constantly surprise us and bring chaos to our lives, it is Lana Del Rey. After teasing her new fanbase for three months following the release of her seventh studio album, Chemtrails Over the Country Club, Lana has released three singles from her upcoming album, allegedly titled Blue Banisters.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Entitled “Wildflower Wildfire,” “Text Book,” and “Blue Banisters,” the singles are the epitome of Lana Del Rey: melodic, ethereal, and dreamy. Lana’s vocals complete with her intricate songwriting make for a great trio of songs, and great anticipation of the album to come.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Wildflower Wildfire
My personal favorite of the three, “Wildflower Wildfire” embodies a Chemtrails-esque sound complete with a slow build that continues to solidify Lana as one of the greats. The instrumentation is stripped down and bare, allowing her natural voice to carry the track.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Favorite lyric: “Baby, I run like a wildflower / I live on sheer willpower / I promise that nothing will burn you”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]https://open.spotify.com/track/5WhzJEUErG4gdSqxNCB9ED?si=53cfdd9ccc2c4499[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Text Book
Text Book is a beautiful ballad with more of a beat behind it, but in true Lana fashion, the single is not without controversy. In a song about her own struggles with her father and relationships, Lana slips in a lyric about Black Lives Matter, singing “And there we were, screamin’ “Black Lives Matter” in a crowd.” Many feel as if it is a false attempt at support for the movement and that it was a quick grab at “wokeness” rather than actual dedication and support. The central topic of the song is Lana’s relationships, and while she nails the rest of the lyrics, it is certainly understandable why this one particular line raised some eyebrows.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Favorite lyric: “You know I’m not that girl, you know I’ll never be / Maybe just the way we’re different could set me free”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]https://open.spotify.com/track/50J98YfyIUVLWbXoQZambN?si=54d0f0239eef4671[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Blue Banisters
Perhaps the most unique song of the three, “Blue Banisters,” the title track of Lana’s upcoming album, incorporates Lana’s love of a chaotic, unstructured melody that just so happens to work. The song is unique in that it tells a story, while still retaining the hard-hitting feel of some of Lana’s most beloved songs. The track is slow and moving but maintains a sense of mystery until the end.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Favorite lyric: “I said I’m scared of the Santa Clarita Fires / I wish that it would rain / I said the power of us three can bring absolutely anything / Except that one thing / The diamonds, the rust, and the rain / The thing that washes away the pain” [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]https://open.spotify.com/track/6FpdEqPmZ9aXIXiDi0Ke0f?si=8fbc871226e948ab[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
