Ronnie Boy Kids is a Filipino-American children’s music artist from Southern California. Ronnie makes catchy beats with meaningful lyrics that not only sound good but help educate kids on principles such as self-love, acceptance, and imagination. Ronnie just released his latest studio album, “Ronnie Boy Land,” earlier this month.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Music for children is a rather niche genre, why did you choose this genre?\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

There are several reasons for my choice, such as family inspiration. I wanted to create music that my nephews and niece could enjoy. As well as my experience, I am also a professional actor and auditioned for Blue’s Clues a few years ago. My natural talent, I’ve always been good at entertaining children, much like my older brother. Creative freedom: this genre allows me to be as silly as I want while exploring various styles, such as hip-hop, pop, R&B, and Afro beats. Finally, challenging creativity, I love the challenge of crafting catchy and meaningful songs to entertain my audience.<\/p>\n

What do you focus on stylistically when making music for children?<\/h2>\n

When making music for children, my producers and I draw inspiration from the styles we love listening to or have enjoyed since childhood. We prioritize variety by exploring a range of genres that resonate with us. Clear messages are essential, and we strive to create songs that are both catchy and meaningful. Above all, we focus on having fun with every track we produce. Understanding that children\u2014and people in general\u2014have short attention spans, we aim for a current sound that gets to the point quickly. Ultimately, I believe children’s music should be fun, entertaining, and anything but boring or typical.<\/p>\n

Your new album, “Ronnie Boy Land”, has an awesome cover, what does the cover represent about the album?<\/h2>\n

Thank you! Each element in the artwork symbolizes a song from the album while embracing the adventure theme. For instance, I\u2019m wearing a pizza outfit for the song \u201cPizza!,\u201d there are space elements in the sky for \u201cInternational Space Station,\u201d and a bright, heavenly light behind me represents \u201cHeaven.\u201d Overall, Ronnie Boy Land offers a glimpse into how I see the world and how I wish it could be\u2014a place free of judgment and bullying, providing comfort for those in need, and full of opportunities for exploration.<\/p>\n

If you could choose two songs to hook potential new fans, what would they be and why?<\/h2>\n

It really depends on the audience, but for a general crowd I\u2019ve never met, I\u2019d recommend \u201cTime Out.\u201d It\u2019s a catchy New Jack swing-style song that talks about owning up to mistakes and learning from them in a fun, easy-to-listen way. I\u2019d also suggest \u201cFamily\u201d (feat. Jeremy Passion), which has a feel-good vibe and highlights the importance of family, even if a listener may not fully realize it. One line in my verse, \u201cActions speak louder than words,\u201d captures how family members often show their love through actions, like showing up at the hospital when needed, reflecting the depth of unconditional love.<\/p>\n

How did you get “Pizza” to be so catchy?<\/h2>\n

Haha, well, “Pizza” is a follow-up to my most streamed song, \u201cBurger,\u201d which many people find extremely catchy. When my producer, Marc Lawrence, and I were crafting “Pizza,” we decided not to fix what wasn\u2019t broken. We created a hip-sounding beat and kept the lyrics simple, just like in \u201cBurger.\u201d I think the sound of a crowd chanting the word \u201cPizza\u201d really helps listeners feel like they\u2019re part of the song, which was our intention all along.<\/p>\n

What is your main goal with your music?<\/h2>\n

My main goal is to reach as many kids and families as possible while making a positive impact in their lives. I hope that when listeners hear my music, they can truly feel my heart and grasp my messages. The world can be a crazy place, but it\u2019s also incredibly beautiful. I aspire to inspire kids of every color to follow their hearts with unapologetic determination.<\/p>\n

“Sticks N Stones” has been stuck in my head all week… what is your secret to mastering the catchy song?<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s tough to pinpoint a single secret. All the songs in my three albums are created the way my producers and I enjoy making music. I believe children\u2019s music doesn\u2019t need to be complicated; it should be relatable and easy to understand. None of the themes in our songs are difficult to grasp, and we deliver them in a fun, head-bobbing way.<\/p>\n\n\n
