Grandview is a hip-hop artist from Manhattan Beach California. He blends his powerful lyrics with his distinct production style to create eloqute art, and carve his niche in the world of hip-hop. GRANDVIEW recently released new singles titled, “The Autograph”, “Martyr II (Still Him)”, and “Gets Away”, which I highly recommened giving a listen.\u00a0<\/p>

How did growing up in Manhattan Beach influence your style of music?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>

Growing up in Manhattan Beach didn’t directly shape my music style, but the rave culture that became popular among my friends and me had a significant impact. I became a huge fan of artists like Flume, Porter Robinson, Just a Gent, and Odesza. The euphoric, symphonic style of electronic music they create still influences many of my tracks today.<\/p>

Your beats are very distinct, what goes into making a beat such as the beat for \u201cMartyr\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>

When selecting beats to rap on, I typically know if I like it within the first 10 seconds. The beat needs to be unique and catchy enough to stand on its own, even without vocals. The beat for “Martyr” has that energy that perfectly complements my aggressive flow and braggadocious lyrics.<\/p>

Hip-hop is a difficult field to carve your niche in, how did you do so? Is there anything you focus on stylistically to do so?<\/strong><\/h4>

With music being so saturated today, good music alone isn’t enough to hold fans’ attention. I focus on building genuine connections with each follower by DMing them, chatting, and responding to every single comment. I want people to see me as a friend, not just an artist. That’s why I call my fans TEAM GRANDVIEW\u2014because when I win, they win.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

If you could compare your style to one artist\u2019s, who would it be and why? (I hear Logic).\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>

The most obvious comparison is Logic, but I see shades of myself in all my favorite rappers. My voice might sound like Logic, but my lyrics are more reminiscent of Kendrick Lamar or Lupe Fiasco. Hopefully, one day I can reach their level\u2014they’re two of the greatest.<\/p>

If a genie offered three wishes about your career, what would they be and why?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>

This is a great question, wow. My first wish would be to release an undeniable top 5 hip-hop album of all time, on par with “To Pimp a Butterfly” and “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.” My second wish would be to perform with The Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Grammys, mashing up their song “Californication” with my future track titled “A Vibe Called West.” Finally, I’d wish to eliminate every Spotify bot and botted playlist because they ruin careers and are the bane of independent artists.<\/p>

I love the album cover for \u201cTime Is On Our Side,\u201d what does the cover represent?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>

The cover for “Time Is On Our Side” is something I look back on fondly. Each single cover featured a clock with a clock face image representing the song’s theme. I wanted each song to have its own unique cover, so I asked my best friends to wear watches displaying these individual covers. Together, my friends represent the “our” in “Time Is On Our Side,” making it unique to have the track list in order on the album cover.<\/p>

For listeners discovering your music for the first time, which 3 songs would you urge them to listen to first to hook them as fans?<\/h4>
