The song sees Baker reuniting with her boygenius<\/a> bandmates Phoebe Bridgers<\/a> and Lucy Dacus<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The song\u2019s lyrics see Baker grappling with the way she views herself and her place in this world: \u201cI always wanna tell the truth \/\/ but it never seems like the right time,\u201d she muses, before sighing, \u201cHow long do I have until \/\/ I\u2019ve spent up everyone\u2019s goodwill?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The song is full of gut-punch lines like that. My personal favorite? \u201cI used to think about myself \/\/ like I was a talented liar \/\/ Turns out that all my friends were \/\/ trying to do me a favor.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As solitary as the lyrics feel, the song\u2019s creation was a celebration of Baker\u2019s friendship with Bridgers and Dacus. The two artists sing back-up on the track, giving the song\u2019s verses layered harmonies.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201c<\/span>We sang on \u2018Favor\u2019 in Nashville the same day we recorded vocals for \u2018<\/span>Graceland Too<\/span><\/a>\u2019 and a song of mine,\u201d Dacus said in a statement about the song<\/a>. \u201cThat day had the same atmosphere as when we recorded <\/span>the boygenius <\/span>EP<\/span><\/a>. Making music was just a natural result of being together, easy as can be but also rare in a way that feels irreplicable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bridgers agreed, adding<\/a>, \u201cJulien is one of those people whose opinion you want to hear about everything. A true critical thinker with an ever-changing and ridiculously articulate worldview. Her music changes in the same way, and this record is my favorite thing she\u2019s ever done. I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll think the same about the next one.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFavor\u201d follows previous releases \u201cHardline<\/a>\u201d and \u201cFaith Healer<\/a>.\u201d <\/span>Little Oblivions <\/span><\/i>will be released February 26. We can\u2019t wait to hear it – plus whatever else the members of boygenius have to offer us.<\/span><\/p>\n
