But Miley Cyrus<\/a> would definitely be a close second.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cyrus started this album cycle with \u201cMidnight Sky,\u201d<\/a> an 80s-rock ode to free spirits and being untameable. When the song dropped, she claimed it was just a single and that she had no plans for an album. Fans didn\u2019t expect any larger projects because Cyrus is famously wishy-washy when it comes to release dates.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Then came the \u201cHeart of Glass\u201d<\/a> cover that took over TikTok – and the rest of the internet – for at least 2 weeks. People were obsessed with Cyrus\u2019 take on the Blondie hit; so obsessed that Cyrus eventually released the live version to streaming services. Then came the \u201cZombie\u201d<\/a> cover, which also got an official release, and the news that Cyrus will be releasing an album November 27.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Plastic Hearts<\/span><\/i>, the singer\u2019s seventh studio album, will include \u201cMidnight Sky,\u201d \u201cHeart of Glass,\u201d and \u201cZombie.\u201d Last week, she released another track from the album: \u201cMidnight Sky (Edge of Midnight),\u201d featuring none other than Stevie Nicks<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, why would Stevie Nicks feature on a remix of this track? Because of a viral TikTok.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

That sounds crazy, but hear me out. A few weeks ago, a TikTok that showed someone creating a mash-up of \u201cMidnight Sky\u201d and Nicks\u2019 famous hit \u201cEdge of Seventeen\u201d<\/a> got very popular, with millions of views and thousands of likes. There\u2019s no evidence that Cyrus saw the TikTok, but it seems like a pretty interesting coincidence that she released her own, official version of the mash-up.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The new version features the famous guitar riff from \u201cEdge of Seventeen,\u201d as well as Nicks\u2019 vocals, while still blending in the synths and beats from the original.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What makes this album cycle so interesting to me is that Cyrus is really listening to her fans. We wanted an official version of \u201cHeart of Glass;\u201d we got it. We wanted her to start doing her famous Backyard Sessions again; she did. We said, \u201cHey, \u201cMidnight Sky\u201d and \u201cEdge of Seventeen\u201d sound good together,\u201d and Cyrus said, \u201cLet me get Stevie on the phone.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> She\u2019s listening to fans and online opinions without pandering, which means she\u2019s continuing to make the music she wants to make, while still giving fans everything they want. I can\u2019t wait to hear what she\u2019s got in store for us on <\/span>Plastic Hearts<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
