In 2015, she and G-Eazy collaborated on \u201cYou Don\u2019t Own Me,\u201d one of the hit singles off the <\/span>Suicide Squad<\/span><\/i> soundtrack. She\u2019s since released an album, 2 EPs and a handful of singles. Her latest release is \u201cGirls,\u201d a lowkey list of of things the singer is tired of hearing from her partner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She mentions her boyfriend preferring her with long hair and in heels and skirts before saying, \u201cI only do it for you, I\u2019m not comfortable with it \/\/ What do you do for me that you\u2019re not comfortable with?\u201d That comparison to the way other girls dress is something many women can relate to, but SAYGRACE stands up for herself by the chorus: \u201cBut I\u2019m not like them \/\/ Sorry that I\u2019m not like them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy entire life I\u2019ve essentially been told to express my femininity, sexuality and female form in a way that pleases other people and I\u2019m honestly just really tired of it,\u201d said the singer. \u201c<\/span>I will not perpetuate the objectification women face by constantly taking on opinions from other people that frankly, we didn\u2019t ask for. I get dressed, do my hair, talk the way I wanna talk, think the way I do and feel the way I feel for me, no one else.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cGirl\u201d\u2019s production is subtle, building on SAYGRACE\u2019s R&B sound, which means the lyrics and vocals are the focal point of the song. With a message this close to the singer\u2019s heart, it\u2019s not wonder she chose to put the spotlight on the words she\u2019s singing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
