In typical Grammys fashion, there were star-studded performances, glamorous fashion statements, surprise winners, and touching tributes to music legends.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s my rundown of the most memorable highlights of the 64<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Grammy Awards:<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\/*! elementor &#8211; v3.7.8 &#8211; 02-10-2022 *\/<br \/>\n.elementor-heading-title{padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1}.elementor-widget-heading .elementor-heading-title[class*=elementor-size-]&gt;a{color:inherit;font-size:inherit;line-height:inherit}.elementor-widget-heading .elementor-heading-title.elementor-size-small{font-size:15px}.elementor-widget-heading .elementor-heading-title.elementor-size-medium{font-size:19px}.elementor-widget-heading .elementor-heading-title.elementor-size-large{font-size:29px}.elementor-widget-heading .elementor-heading-title.elementor-size-xl{font-size:39px}.elementor-widget-heading .elementor-heading-title.elementor-size-xxl{font-size:59px}<\/p>\n<h2>Big Winners<\/h2>\n<p>This year\u2019s major categories (Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist) were\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/grammys-expand-major-categories-10-nominees\/\">expanded<\/a>\u00a0from eight to ten nominees, therefore the competition was especially tight. Jon Batiste, who led all artists with the most nominations of the year, was Sunday night\u2019s biggest winner.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The soul musician collected five awards out of his eleven nominations, including the prestigious Album of the Year trophy for his recent release,\u00a0<em>WE ARE.<\/em>\u00a0Batiste also delivered one of the night\u2019s most genuine and humble acceptance\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Cb_FhpWj3rV\/\">speeches.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\/*! elementor &#8211; v3.7.8 &#8211; 02-10-2022 *\/<br \/>\n.elementor-widget-image{text-align:center}.elementor-widget-image a{display:inline-block}.elementor-widget-image a img[src$=&#8221;.svg&#8221;]{width:48px}.elementor-widget-image img{vertical-align:middle;display:inline-block}\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"474\" src=\"https:\/\/traklife.com\/featured\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2023\/09\/jon-batiste.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><figcaption>John Locher \/ AP<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI believe this to my core, there is no best musician, best artist, best dancer, best actor, the creative arts are subjective and they reach people at a point in their lives when they need it most,\u201d Batiste shared. \u201cIt\u2019s like a song or an album is made and it almost has a radar to find the person when they need it the most.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Surprisingly to many, the throwback soul duo Silk Sonic, comprised of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, won all four of their nominations, beating out other pop favorites such as Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Olivia Rodrigo, and Justin Bieber. Their hit single \u201cLeave the Door Open\u201d took home Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&amp;B Song, and Best R&amp;B Performance, which tied with Jazmine Sullivan\u2019s \u201cPick Up Your Feelings\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"393\" src=\"https:\/\/traklife.com\/featured\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2023\/09\/Silk-Sonic-Just-Swept-The-2022-Grammys-1024x629.jpeg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><figcaption>Rich Fury \/ Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIn the industry, we call that a clean sweep!\u201d Anderson .Paak boasted during their fourth acceptance speech of the evening, to which Bruno Mars replied, \u201cThat\u2019s four for four!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Teen pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo entered her very first Grammy Awards with seven nominations, three of which she won for Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance. She also performed a moving rendition of her record-breaking, career-shifting ballad \u201cdriver\u2019s license\u201d from a Mercedes onstage.<\/p>\n<figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/traklife.com\/featured\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2023\/09\/livie-grammys-1024x675.png\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><figcaption>David Becker \/ Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>One of my personal favorite moments was witnessing Doja Cat and SZA make Grammys history, becoming the first black women to win the Best Pop Duo\/Group Performance for their popular summer jam, \u201cKiss Me More.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As SZA hobbled on crutches supporting a broken ankle, Lady Gaga generously untangled the train of her dress and carried it until she was safely onstage. Meanwhile, Doja Cat hilariously ran in late from the bathroom before delivering a heartfelt speech, thanking SZA for featuring on her track and calling her \u201cthe epitome of talent.\u201d Through tears, Doja admitted to the audience, \u201cI like to downplay sh**, but this is a big deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"406\" src=\"https:\/\/traklife.com\/featured\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2023\/09\/doja-cat-sza-grammys-2022-1024x650.jpeg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><figcaption>Rich Fury \/ Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Other\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/04\/03\/arts\/music\/grammys-winners.html\">winners<\/a>\u00a0of the night include Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett (Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album,\u00a0<em>Love For Sale<\/em>), H.E.R. (Best Traditional R&amp;B Performance, \u201cFight For You\u201d), Chris Stapleton (Best Country Solo Performance, \u201cYou Should Probably Leave\u201d and Best Country Song, \u201cCold\u201d), Jazmine Sullivan (Best R&amp;B Performance, \u201cPick Up Your Feelings\u201d and Best R&amp;B Album,\u00a0<em>Heaux Tales<\/em>), and Tyler the Creator (Best Rap Album,\u00a0<em>CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST<\/em>).<\/p>\n<h2>Notable Performances<\/h2>\n<p>Host Trevor Noah declared at the beginning of the Grammy Awards, \u201cIt\u2019s not an awards show. It\u2019s a concert where we also give out awards.\u201d Truly, the night lived up to this statement, as only a few award ceremonies were televised in favor of maximizing the amount of live performances.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Silk Sonic opened the show with a fiery, Vegas-themed take on their funky track \u201c777.\u201d Following Olivia Rodrigo\u2019s Grammy debut performance of \u201cdriver\u2019s license\u201d, Latin artist J. Balvin took the stage with Maria Becerra to perform \u201c\u00bfQu\u00e9 M\u00e1s Pues?\u201d all before any award winners were announced.<\/p>\n<figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"359\" src=\"https:\/\/traklife.com\/featured\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2023\/09\/billie-and-finneas-grammys-1024x574.png\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><figcaption>Rich Fury \/ Getty<br \/>\nImages<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Later, pop stars Billie Eilish and her brother FINNEAS performed her biggest hit of 2021, \u201cHappier Than Ever,\u201d the Grammy-nominated title track from her exquisite sophomore album.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a touching tribute to the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away on March 25, Eilish sported an oversized graphic t-shirt with Hawkins\u2019 face on the front during their performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Also notable was a musical theater-inspired tribute to the late composer Stephen Sondheim, which was shown during the Grammy\u2019s annual \u201cIn Memoriam\u201d portion of the show honoring artists, musicians, songwriters, and performers who passed within the recent year. Ben Platt, Rachel Zegler, Leslie Odom, Jr., and Cynthia Erivo performed a medley of Sondheim songs, including \u201cNot a Day Goes By,\u201d \u201cSend in the Clowns,\u201d and \u201cSomewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"476\" src=\"https:\/\/traklife.com\/featured\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2023\/09\/grammys-gaga-1024x761.png\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><figcaption>Matt Winkelmeyer \/ Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lady Gaga dazzled in a mint green ballgown as she strutted around the stage performing \u201cLove For Sale,\u201d and \u201cDo I Love You\u201d from her jazz collaboration album <em>Love For Sale <\/em>with Tony Bennett. Though Bennett\u2019s increasingly severe battle with Alzheimer\u2019s prevented him from performing live, the legendary singer\u2019s pre-taped video message brought the entire room to tears, especially Gaga herself, who ended her touching performance with the words, \u201cI love you, Tony.
