[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]There is always one record on an album that you cannot turn away from for one reason or another. Whether it is the beat, the content, how relatable the record is at that moment, or the emotion the song evokes, our brains refuse to listen to anything else.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In turn, I started a writing series about the songs that pulled us in and etched their musical notes into our memory. Speak on those unsung tracks that keep the project whole but shine along with the other gems. So today, I wanted to talk about \u201cGargoyles\u201d off your favorite scammer Guapdad 4000 latest album,\u00a01176<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tish Hymen\u2019s voice begins to lead you into a sanctuary, where a flooded walkway of choir members harmonizing in unison. However, it is all from one booming voice. It all feels secure yet revealing. You sense the state of despair that drowns the production and then the famed words that kicked off this journey,<\/p>\n

“It’s not just one problem\/It’s a lot of shit (A lot of shit).”<\/i><\/p>\n

You hear the voice of a man haunted by the problems he has ignored. Too much weight to bear, and here is the only place he could share it. And for that reason, that line hits, and it hits hard. It\u2019s been a rough year for everyone<\/a>, and Guapdad is addressing every emotion that overstayed its welcome. My need to go through the album as a whole halted. I could not leave it alone. I just sank into a mind state where for what feels like the first time in months, someone smacked the tip of the iceberg I\u2019ve been struggling to attack.<\/p>\n

I did not finish the album until the day after, admittedly wishing the remaining tracks had that level of depth. The curse of being one-track-minded is that you get so caught up in something that you forget there is more to be seen. However, it is comforting to know that you are not alone.<\/p>\n
