About Us

Music is Art. Art Still Matters.

Traklife is an editorial music and culture institution dedicated to curating, documenting, and contextualizing music as art.

Founded in Los Angeles in 2012, Traklife began as an independent radio platform and evolved into a multi-format media outlet spanning radio, video, editorial, and live programming. Today, Traklife operates as a curated cultural ecosystem — not a submission platform, not a marketing service, and not an algorithmic discovery tool.

Our role is simple but deliberate:

to observe culture closely, apply a clear editorial lens, and elevate moments that carry meaning.

What Traklife Is — and Is Not

Traklife is not built to document everything.

It is built to document what aligns with our lens at a given moment in time.

We do not rank artists.

We do not sell exposure.

We do not optimize for virality or metrics.

Instead, we function like an editorial institution:

  • Decisions are subjective and contextual
  • Curation is intentional and time-based
  • Inclusion signals alignment, not superiority

When something is elevated through Traklife, it carries weight precisely because it cannot be bought or forced.

The Role of Community

Traklife is supported by an active creative community of artists, listeners, and cultural contributors.

Our community:

  • Participates in conversations and programming
  • Submits work for editorial consideration
  • Engages with culture as it unfolds
  • Helps shape discourse through presence and perspective

Community participation does not govern editorial decisions.

Editorial independence is what protects the integrity of the culture we document.

This balance — open participation paired with a clear standard — is intentional.

Our Editorial Lens

All programming and coverage at Traklife is guided by a consistent lens:

  • Authorship over algorithms
  • Intentionality over virality
  • Process over output
  • Cultural contribution over attention-seeking

Curation is subjective. We acknowledge that openly.

Not all strong work aligns with what we are documenting at a given time — and that does not diminish its value.

Why Traklife Exists

In an era where music is increasingly reduced to content and metrics, Traklife exists to preserve context, authorship, and meaning.

We believe:

  • Music is art
  • Art deserves care
  • Culture needs institutions, not just platforms

Traklife is built to last — not to chase cycles.
